Johann Wolfgang von Goethe in his "Vorspiel auf dem Theater" (Prelude to the Theater) humorously and brilliantly addressed all the problems that artistic directors and artists have who want to please an audience. And who, as a creator of culture, doesn't want that? Unlike the Holzhausen Quartet, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2018, however, Herr Hofrat had no singers and no pianist, let alone a Bösendorfer grand piano comparable to the one in the Holzhausenschlösschen, which even Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart would have been thrilled by, and for that reason also found the task of mastering it incomparably more difficult. The aim is to get you to sing along to a New Year's hit newly composed by Till Krabbe at the end of the one-hour programme, so that the roof of the Schlösschen flies up into the sky like a New Year's rocket. The director of the Weimar Court Theatre was just as unfamiliar with poets of the calibre of Erich Kästner, who in his poems took aim at all our good intentions for the New Year in a particularly humorous and cheeky manner, as he was with the king of the German sketch, our immortal Loriot. These are just a few of the guarantors that will make the New Year's reception at the Holzhausenschlösschen a very special musical-literary treat that you will be able to feast on all year long.
