High school friends Schuylar Croom (voc), Adam Tanbouz (g) and Matty Williams (dr) had been playing together in various formations since the 90s, from which He Is Legend emerged in the early 2000s. The band name is an adaptation of the 1954 book "I am Legend" by Richard Matheson, which was a major influence on the gothic fiction and zombie genres.
