Under the title "Heart Strums" four renowned Persian musicians present their program with classical Persian music improvisation. "Instruments from another world..sounds that touch, rustle, whisper, knock, pearl as bright as a bell, clang a thousand times, sob, gallop, cajole, swirl, intoxicate . Hossein Alizadeh, born in Tehran and living in Iran, highly respected master and virtuoso of classical Persian music, composer, musicologist, plays setar and tar, a Persian long-necked lute known as <.x>Ampersand#039;sultan of instruments'. Hossein Behroozinia, born in Tehran and living in Vancouver, has worked and performed with some of the hottest ensembles of classical Iranian music and written numerous compositions for his instrument. He plays an important role in the revival of a Persian identity of the barbat. The barbat is an ancient Persian lute. Behnam Samani, born in Iran and living in Cologne, virtuoso of percussion, creates not only the most complex rhythms on the tombak, a cup drum, but unexpected melodies all his own to boot. Saba Alizadeh, born in Iran and living in California and there also moving in the space of experimental electronic music, plays the kamancheh, a bowed lute whose sound is reminiscent of a violin and yet sounds so strangely - familiarly different. Four excellent musicians - ambassadors for the power of music that seems to magically guide their fingers, their hands - give the music all the space: not only that on stage, but of the whole concert hall. Their music builds bridges: straight into the heart of the audience.
