The rock musical from New York
Girst performed as a small Off-Broadway show in 1998, the punk-glam country-rock musical "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" has made its triumphant way around the world, was even made into a film starring John Cameron Mitchell in 2001, and has long been a cult favorite in the English-speaking world.
The talented but internationally ignored rock chanteuse Hedwig is confronted with her own tragicomic past on her world tour: Raised as Hänsel Schmidt in East Berlin, she is persuaded by American GI Luther to relocate to the US and undergo a sex change.
Unfortunately, this goes disastrously wrong and an "Angry Inch" remains of her member.
Deserted and exploited, neither man nor woman, her path now leads her to the bread factory in Frankfurt.
She has no idea that this concert will change her life forever.
