HOLIDAY ON ICE is one of the most successful ice shows in the world, combining classic figure skating with modern show elements. With its spectacular live shows, HOLIDAY ON ICE has already reached more than 325 million viewers worldwide since its premiere in 1943 in Ohio, USA, making it the most-attended ice show in the world.
In every show, HOLIDAY ON ICE reinvents itself, yet always remains true to itself. With visionary show concepts, spectacular stagings and passionate performances, every show inspires the audience anew and draws them under its spell. In the process, magical moments are created that remain unforgettable.
At HOLIDAY ON ICE, the best ice stars such as Katharina Witt, Tanja Szewczenko or Norbert Schramm meet great and prominent artists, including Phil Collins or Sarah Connor. The magical ice shows combine classical figure skating with elements from acrobatics, musicals, theatre, dance, classical music and pop, among others.
A new show concept is developed for each season, based on a specific motto. Up to 300 individually designed, fantastic costumes, outstanding choreographies, an elaborate musical design and up to 40 professional figure skaters enchant in always completely new show concepts, in which pair skating, single skating and synchronized figure skating are presented in a wide variety of figures.
In Germany, HOLIDAY ON ICE is touring numerous cities in Germany, Austria, France and England in the 2017/2018 season with the two shows TIME and ATLANTIS.
History
It all began during the Christmas holidays of 1934: in a small hotel in Toledo, Ohio (USA) HOLIDAY ON ICE was performed for the first time. The English term "Holiday Season" gave the show its name at that time and laid the foundation for the incomparable success story of HOLIDAY ON ICE. From the mid-1940s onwards, transportable refrigeration systems were developed and the popular ice show was able to tour across the USA. From there, it all took off, with the show expanding to Central and South America, and from the 1950s onwards, providing astonished audiences in Europe as well.
In the more than 70 years since HOLIDAY ON ICE's inception, over 325 million people have seen the shows. Because of this, HOLIDAY ON ICE has been entered into the Guinness World Records book as the world's most attended ice show.
