What role, what responsibility does the individual assume in society - this question, which resonates in the study of Beethoven's "Eroica" as a confessional work, can be pursued all the more concretely in the composer's instrumental concertos. The hr-Sinfonieorchester and Christoph Eschenbach have chosen two works with special status in Beethoven's oeuvre for their contribution to the Musikfest: his only violin concerto and the curious Triple Concerto. Two works that testify to their own definition of the possibilities that arise in the interplay of one or more soloists with the orchestra collective. In the Violin Concerto, the soloist shows himself to be primus inter pares, part of the company. And in the Triple Concerto, composed at the same time as the "Eroica", the three solo instruments unite to speak together with all the more powerful voice.
