Georg Heisler is on the run. Whether his path leads to freedom or death is not up to him, that is decided by others. It is these others who meet him on the paths along the Rhine, the heights of the Taunus and finally in the streets of Frankfurt: people who take the risk not to betray him, who do not ask but help. They are people who have to make a decision, for themselves, for Georg and for what we believe in. Anna Segher's world-famous novel from 1942 impressively shows what it means to be on the run: Flight is the existential experience of neediness. We need those who protect and guide us; without them, without their courage and determination, we are lost. It affects us all as victims, perpetrators or accomplices. Adapted by Sabine Reich and directed by Anselm Weber, this novel comes to the stage for the first time in the city where this story of flight is set.
