A woman walks one last time through the hotel she has managed for years. One last time, her gaze wanders over the hotel's terrace, over the neighborhood that has changed so much between its opening in the '90s and its farewell now. It's an unsentimental farewell, as unsentimental as the woman telling it. Her memories wander from the hotel to her childhood in Ginnheim, to her parents, her melancholy father and her strong-minded mother. Always they are memories of a woman who took on life's challenges with dry humor and great practical sense.
Thomas Pletzinger, born in Münster in 1975, studied American Studies in Hamburg, then at the German Literature Institute in Leipzig. Pletzinger is a master of literary re-portage. For several years he devoted himself to his passion, basketball, e.g. with "Gentlemen, we live on the edge" (2012) and "The Great Nowizki", which will be published in early summer 2019. Pletzinger also established himself as a literary storyteller with the novel "Burial of a Dog" (2008).
