The IKS Big Band takes a very personal journey with the CD "Bruders große Reise". Saxophonist Stephan Völker tells through his compositions about his life with his deceased brother - charming and always touching. The fact that the musicians from the IKS talent factory interpret his work closes the circle for the man from Rüsselsheim. Jens Hunstein, congenial arranger and close friend of the composer, took over the conducting from bandleader Horst Aussenhof for the duration of the project and put his heart and soul into the realization. "Stephan's pieces are simple in the very best sense," says Hunstein, who used the free space to fill them with mood. The result: extraordinary music with subtle regional references and depth in the sound garb of a big band. Maria Knissel reads lyrics from the novel "Three Words at Once."
