Singspiel in three acts freely adapted from the comedy by Blumenthal and Kadelburg by Hans Müller and Erik Charell, vocal lyrics by Robert Gilbert, music by Ralph Benatzky, six musical interludes by Robert Gilbert, Bruno Granichstaedten and Robert Stolz. In 1998, when we staged the "Weiße Rössl" in the tranquil Bad Vilbel, the world still seemed to be in its joints. St. Wolfgang was still the eternal chancellor's place of longing, religious wars belonged to the Middle Ages, the Twin Towers rose into the New York sky and the Germans were at most preoccupied with themselves. 20 years later we reach for the Singspiel like shipwrecked people for the straw in the storm of the world. Something funny is needed, blistering entertainment, a great rhythm that lifts you away, over the general weather. So let's go to the Wolfgangssee again and see how wonderful it is here, one stone on top of the other. Well?! At least the stones are still standing on each other. But the "White Horse Inn" is firmly in Arab hands. There's still yodelling and shoegazing - but which guests are in lederhosen? Leopold may still be the smart Austrian head waiter, but his adored landlady is from Dubai (or at least pretends to be, to accommodate her guests). The menu sounds Austrian, but they're out of roast pork! The regulars are also no longer Piefkes, but loden-fanatic Orientals and the sweet Klärchen is now called Jamila and is just as cute in a burkini as she was in a bikini. And instead of the Austrian Emperor, the German Chancellor announces herself for the Schützenfest and prophesies: S' is once in a lifetime so
Everybody feels the same way,<.x>BR What you want so much
is so far away. IM ARABISCHEN RÖSSL ehemals IM WEISSEN RÖSSL is a continuation of our work with refugees and those at home, which began in 2016 with Kleist's Earthquake in Chili, continued with Lessing's Nathan, and is now to be translated into a musical genre.
