The prose works of Potsdam author Antje Rávik Strubel are fragile entities. Rávik Strubel is interested in the uncertain nature of our identities, in the question of who we are, in the voids between the roles we play. For "Voices of a City," she portrays defense attorney Andreas Sternthal, whose retrospective look at his successful career reveals fine cracks between public and private life: between bourgeois surface and a complicated love triangle, between detachment from the emotionally cold parental home of the 1950s and the awakening of the 1970s in Frankfurt.
