At the end of March, Sebastian Krämer was awarded the German Music Authors' Prize in the music cabaret category. A label that neither tastes nor does justice to him. Krämer does not fit into this or other pigeonholes and yet is highly award-worthy, as also evidenced by the German Cabaret Prize for Chanson (2009) or the German Cabaret Prize (2012).
Opinionally strong commentary on the political events of the day or knee-slapping humour are not his thing. Sebastian Krämer finds his topics in his own experience rather than in the daily newspaper. And yet the reflection on the larger context always resonates. And he approaches the objects of his contemplation in very different ways: sometimes highly poetic and sometimes with affectionate or even mischievous irony. Vulnerability and sharpness are never mutually exclusive in Sebastian Krämer's work. As if fallen out of time and at the same time highly topical, he cultivates his very own tone. Time and again he succeeds in creating song gems that will probably have long since become part of the art song canon in 50 years' time. Before his new program will officially premiere in mid-October at Berlin's Heimathafen Neukölln, Sebastian Krämer is already giving a taste of it at the "Songs und Chansons im Schlösschen".
