Because somewhere between attitude, message and punchline lies insight, a place that obviously does not often have wifi. That's why it takes moments of truthfulness - live, with lots of fervent and sometimes irritated laughter. Because in "Fressefreiheit" Stadelmann celebrates a country where you do say something more often before you think and don't go to jail for it.
"Originally I was going to call the show 'The Butcher with the Foil'. But then I was afraid of attacks of fundamentalist vegans", says Ingmar Stadelmann and grins mischievously. Even the poster, based on the Russian performance artist Pyotr Pavlensky, who actually sewed his mouth shut in public against apathy, political indifference and fatalism in Russia, proves it: Ingmar Stadelmann is not just another mainstream funnyman.
When Stadelmann launched his first solo "Was ist denn los mit den Menschen?" in 2012, it won him heaps of comedy awards: "From the Hamburg Comedy Pokal" to the "RTL Comedy Grand Prix" to the "Deutsche Comedypreis" he got them all. Only not to dive into the RTL waters in 2015, but to dare a further artistic development. #humorphob was his answer to terrorist attacks from a stand-up comedian's point of view, celebrated by the audience and critics.
Sometimes even by both at the same time, as at the "Großes Kleinkunstpreis der Wühlmäuse" in Berlin: Stadelmann won the audience and the Jüry Prize in one evening. Few comedians before him had managed to do that. The Russian Pavlensky, by the way, ended up in a psychiatric ward. Ingmar Stadelmann, on the other hand, fortunately has the stage and his audience for his therapy.
Now, with Fressefreiheit, he shows his self-created universe, which dissolves the boundaries between cabaret and comedy.
