Under the motto "Rise for our bodies, our earth, our future", the 13th international dance demonstration "V-Day – One Billion Rising" will take place in Frankfurt on Saturday, 14 February. This global campaign sends a clear message against violence against women and girls and for self-determination, solidarity and a just future. The city of Frankfurt is participating in this international day of action together with a broad civil society alliance. A welcome address will be given by Tina Zapf-Rodríguez, Head of the Department for Climate, Environment and Women.
The event will focus on joint dancing as an expression of protest and solidarity. The choreography will be led by BeShoo, and anyone interested is welcome to join in. The event will be accompanied by statements in various languages and music by the feminist DJ Crew GG Vybe will provide musical accompaniment. The Frankfurt V-Day is organised by the Women's Department in cooperation with the Frankfurt Action Alliance.
Background:
"One Billion Rising" is an international day of action that has been held annually since 2012 to draw attention to the global scale of violence against women and girls. The title refers to a UN statistic according to which one in three women experiences violence in the course of her life. In Germany, actions are taking place in over 80 cities.
