Arias and duets from works by Verdi, Mascagni, Puccini, Ponchielli and Donizetti. For the first time, some of the arena stars of the younger generation will now perform in the course of an "Italian Opera Night" at the Alte Oper Frankfurt. The soprano Donata D'Annunzio Lombardi, who comes from Abruzzo and gives guest performances at all the major opera houses in Italy as well as in the USA, has become famous above all for her appearances at the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago. Tenor Leonardo Caimi is celebrated at La Scala in Milan. Last summer, admittedly, he already made a lasting impression on local opera lovers in a few performances of Tosca at the Frankfurt Opera.
The mezzo-soprano Sanja Anastasia, who frequently appears on stage in the arena as Amneris (Aida) or as Carmen, is also in the cast, as is the baritone Federico Longhi, who, in addition to his roles in Verona, has celebrated great successes in the opera houses of Bologna, Pisa, Palermo and Buenos Aires, among others. Once again the "Thüringen Philharmonie" will come to the Alte Oper, this time conducted by the successful Austrian-Italian conductor Eraldo Salmieri. The opera evening will once again be moderated by Rainer Zagovec in his usual whimsical and knowledgeable manner.
