His breakthrough came in 2005 with the mega-hit "You're Beautiful" and the accompanying album "Back To Bedlam", which became the best-selling record of the noughties in his home country, reached number 17 of the best-selling records of the past 60 years, received around 80 platinum awards worldwide and, it should by no means be forgotten, was also very well received by the critical press at the time.
Since then Blunt does what he wants: exactly the music he likes. And his fans like it anyway. He has now sold over 20 million albums and over 12.8 million singles worldwide. Every few years a new album is reliably released, which is just as reliably successful. Each of his four studio albums has won numerous awards and sold millions of copies. You can always tell that Blunt has taken his time to polish the songwriting and perfect the arrangements. That he took the time in the studio to guarantee a perfect and balanced production and to realize his sound idea 100 percent. And that certainly applies to the upcoming album as well. Already the first single "Love Me Better", which will be released on 27.01., will give us a little taste of it. Blunt shows himself in a new and fresh light thanks to the modern pop production of his producer Ryan Tedder, the singer of OneRepublic. Serenity is Blunt's trademark - not least because he's experienced so much beyond his music.
He got his pilot's licence at 16, he was with KFOR in Kosovo during his military service and has since supported Doctors Without Borders wherever he can. He was a Queen Mum pallbearer and won skiing competitions (there's even a lift named after him in Switzerland). But above all, the Brit wants to pass on a lot of the good things that have happened to him. That's why, of course, James Blunt is also going on an extensive "Afterlove" tour with the new record.
