In France in the 19th century, the national anthem changed several times - depending on whether a king, emperor or an elected government was currently sitting at the head of the state. In the 20th century, Cambodia or Afghanistan had constantly changing national anthems. The Dutch anthem tells an old story, the Polish one takes a different stance than the English one, and what does an anthem even mean in a divided country like Syria? In the project "Anthems", Jan Klares 1000 has taken hymns as material for an improvisational musical concept and tells stories that can be heard in many different ways.
