Janice Dixon and John Stowell performed for the first time in 2013 at the Jazz Night in the Gross- Rohrheimer Church, a spontaneous session of 15 min that burned itself into the memory of all listeners as a magic moment. Janice Dixon The internationally acclaimed New York soprano sings at all the major German opera houses and was engaged as a soloist at the Nationaltheater Mannheim for almost 20 years. In addition to her impressive career as an opera singer (Cleveland Symphony Orchestra, New York Philharmonic Orchestra, Deutsche Oper Berlin, collaborations with James Levine, Michael Gielen and many others), she has also devoted herself to lieder and jazz, and has performed in this field with Bill Ramsey, Michael Gielen and others. The legendary American jazz guitarist John Stowell is one of the best jazz guitarists worldwide, especially recognized and admired in the community of jazz guitarists. Stowell has developed his own style that fuses linear and chordal playing. This is only possible because of his special "Stowellian" playing technique, which has been influenced equally by pianists, wind players and guitarists. Stowell began his career in the early 1970s as a duo with bassist David Friesen, with whom he still records and tours regularly worldwide more than 30 years later. In addition to his busy concert schedule with musicians such as Milt Jackson, Lionel Hampton, Art Farmer, Herb Ellis, Paul Horn, Mundell Lowe, Billy Higgins, Billy Hart, Tom Harrrell, Don Thompson and Dave Liebman, John Stowell is in demand as a lecturer, giving concerts and workshops worldwide. As opener, the P-Trio plays original compositions from abstract to beautiful in atypical trio instrumentation. Michael Distelmann (double bass) has travelled the world with baroque orchestras before discovering his love for jazz. Eberhard Petri once studied classical jazz (with Kurt Rosenwinkel, Lorenzo Frizzera, Geoff Goodman and Tobias Langguth, among others) and is still on a musical voyage of discovery. Ralf Keidel (flute) learned the playing techniques of jazz with Stephanie Wagner and Uli Partheil, among others, and in numerous workshop bands of the Jazz Conceptions.
