Jank Kovik come from Frankfurt and do folkrock in the broadest sense. Their songs are as unerring as Clint Eastwood, as unsparing as a novel by Cormac McCarthy and as sharp as the poems of Tennessee Williams. They tell of failure, of surrender, and of redemption through art. This accomplished band plays the soundtrack of a generation that has declared war on auto-tune. Here, everything is vulnerable, everything is open, fragile and splintery.
Marko Jankovic has gathered a handful of musicians around him to liberate his songs from the loneliness of being a singer/songwriter. Jank Kovik brings together members of past and present bands such as Hammocks, Nanda Zip, Mystic Onehand, The Pershing Case, Skizze Blau, Paul Dimmer Band and Sushimob. In 2014 the band released their first album "Refuge", in February they released the EP "Landscapes" with six mostly acoustic, spartanly instrumented tracks. A new album is in the works. Jank Kovik have had the pleasure of opening for New Model Army, Okta Logue and Kevin Devine, among others - and once already at "Stoffel", which was a particularly nice home game for them.
