Who needs a lead singer? Brian King and David Prowse think: we don't. What was supposed to be a trio stays with the stormy duo. One guitar, one drum set, two singers. That's all the Japandroids need. The Canadians developed their lo-fi garage sound after meeting at the University of Victoria in 2006. King is studying natural sciences, Prowse attends anthropology lectures. The Vancouver duo indulge their shared passion for music soon after with two EPs on their own. In 2009, the long player "Post-Nothing" follows, released via Polyvinyl, where Of Montreal and Someone Still Loves You, among others, release Boris Yeltsin. Filter Magazine writes about it: "This album shows the beauty of controlled chaos. It's emotive, but cocky and carefree." In early 2010, the Japandroids also present their work in German lands. Back home in Canada, the live shows are already euphorically compared to Mclusky and The Thermals, and even more noise than .And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead is announced by the Japandroids. With the release of their third studio album "Celebration Rock" in 2012, the last dams break. Everyone wants to see and experience the Japandroids. Brian and David obey. However, after playing over 200 shows in 40 countries, the battery is completely empty in November 2013. The two Canadians are in desperate need of a break. Three years later, they report back at the starting line. With an appetite for the big arenas of this world and the fourth album "Near To The Wild Heart Of Life" in their luggage, the Japandroids are setting out on the road again.
