Jazz Against Apartheid was created in 1986 with exiled musician Johnny Dyani in Frankfurt. The music of the composer, bandleader and bassist, who died 30 years ago, is grandiose art, at the same time history of the passionate struggle against apartheid, biography of a life in exile and gapless documentation from 25 years of exile history. Frankfurt was a place of the anti-apartheid movement: Fruit boycotts, human carpets in front of major banks, Kirchentag gegen Apartheid towered over the emergence of the Jazz gegen Apartheid project and has been associated with Frankfurt ever since. Jazz Against Apartheid today gathers personalities inspired by the genial verve and imagination of music from exile: Claude Deppa (tp), Allen Jacobsen (tb), Tobias Delius (ts), Daniel Guggenheim (ts), John Edwards (b) , Christopher Dell (vib) , Makaya Ntshoko (dr) , guest Janusz Maria Stefanski (dr).
