Jazz you don't hear. Jazz you feel. You don't do jazz. Jazz you feel. Beat for beat and phrase for phrase, as the foundation of pop music gets up close and personal with the most exciting literary format of our time in this Darmstadt premiere. Poetry slam merges with band sound. Three of Germany's most famous slam poets harmonize with Triorität, winner of the 2017 Darmstadt Music Prize and the coolest triumvirate in town. On bass, drums and keys they set texts by the stage poets Leticia Wahl, Dominique Macri and Dalibor Markovic to music.
What is already electrifying at the poetry slam unfolds fully at the jazz slam: the intoxication of the moment. When poetry and solos play around each other and verses are coloured by chord progressions, the texts take on new levels of meaning and the music fresh impulses. In addition, authors with a special sense of timing present their rhymes: Leticia Wahl is a trained pianist, Dalibor Markovic, as a rapper and beatboxer, repeatedly fuses spoken word and sound art, and Dominique Macri knows the country's theater stages from numerous collaborations with orchestras and jazz ensembles.
