Johannes Mössinger Quartet live at Jazzkeller Frankfurt.
Johannes Mössinger celebrates the 20th anniversary with his international quartet in autumn 2021 and has put together the current anniversary program "reloaded" for this occasion. After intensive collaborations with jazz greats such as Joe Lovano, Joel Frahm, Seamus Blake, Boris Kozlov, Andy Hunter, Karl Latham and Don Braden, Mössinger has now brought American trumpeter Ryan Carniaux back into his band. The two artists can be experienced together on the vinyl LP of the quartet released in November 2016 on "Neuklang-Limited Edition" / Live at Studio Bauer Ludwigsburg. Johannes Mössinger's piano playing, bursting with ideas, seems to be the spiritual centre above everything. He charismatically spreads out melodies, explores all harmonic paths and detours rapidly and without double bottoms and is intent on constant changes of colours and moods. Meanwhile trumpeter Ryan Carniaux joins in again and again in selected parts and sets euphoric highlights in a smooth line. Relaxed and at the same time on the densest energy level, profound musical fantasy unfolds here. The focus is on their own compositions and the virtuoso, stylistically confident and expressive skills of the four musicians. In the band's new program, in addition to the most successful songs of recent years, there are also new titles from the pen of the band leader, who is causing a sensation with his sensitive, sparklingly elegant and virtuoso playing, as well as a composer of beautiful, expressive and filigree jazz tunes.
