Justin Townes Earle makes no secret of the fact that he also took his dad as a bad example. That's because country rock icon Steve Earle, who gave his filius the middle name Townes in honor of his mentor Townes van Zandt, struggled with a serious alcohol and drug addiction. Junior also narrowly survived a heroin overdose. "My dad gave me a lot of bad stuff when I was a kid. Steve Earle was certainly not the role model you would want for a child," the now 35-year-old once revealed in an interview. Since rehab, Earle Jr. has been clean and focused on his music. "I just realized one day that it's not really cool to die young."
Early on, the Nashville-born singer and guitarist developed his own musical hybrid after his first band experiences between ragtime and bluegrass. Already the first solo album "The Good Life" was praised for its mix of "depression-era folk, classic country, pre-war blues, and early rock 'n' roll" and the originator was acknowledged as one of the best young emerging artists. Justin Townes Earle was able to win the "Americana Music Award" several times. With "Kids In The Street" his eighth album was released in May. The twelve new songs were heavily influenced by personal changes, marriage and impending fatherhood. "There are actually uplifting moments on the record," he reveals, "really positive feelings." Even though he's more rooted in the blues, Earle feels closer to soul than ever. Lyrics sourceand more information about this event: http://www.brotfabrik.de/
