"Dearest Father, you asked me once the other day why I claim to be afraid of you." This is how Franz Kafka's famous "Letter to Father" begins. The text is both a fascinating document of a highly complicated relationship and a literary masterpiece that should be read in direct line with Kafka's major works. Jan Philipp Gloger, known for his textual excursions that are as intelligent as they are entertaining, has followed this trail more closely and, in addition to excerpts from the letter, has gathered together numerous stories, parables, fragments, and diary entries in which family structures and especially the father-son relationship play a central role. In our project we now invite you to a playful and atmospheric journey into Kafka's life and work, on which not only the amazing theatrical potential but also the often overlooked comedy of his texts will be rediscovered.
