To close the jazz festival, Kamaal Williams brings a more electronic variety of the current London crossover scene to the hall of the Mousonturm. Kamaal Williams is the latest project from London keyboardist, producer and DJ Henry Wu. The twenty-something first played drums before he made a name for himself as an exceptional talent on the keys. The current trio features an exceptionally fiery drummer in Josh McKenzie aka McKnasty, who has played with Robert Glasper. Bassist Pete Martin is known from Courtney Pine's famous band of the late '90s. Kamaal Williams' performances are fueled by a great love of improvisation and an almost telepathic mutual understanding. Their musical influences range from Herbie Hancock and other greats of 70s jazz funk to underground electronic genres like garage and grime.
