She comes from Sydney, but as a musician she first appeared in Berlin. Kat Frankie has been living in the German capital since 2004 and has released three albums there so far. Initially, her music was characterized by the melancholic tone of introverted songwriter pop, "but I never wanted to be just the sad girl at the guitar," says the 40-year-old looking back. Nor was she ever, not least because of her numerous side projects. For example, she played guitar in Olli Schulz's backing band, composed the theme tune for the talk show "Schulz und Böhmermann" with Get Well Soon and competed in the duo Keøma in the preliminary round for the Eurovision Song Contest in 2016.
The darkly colourful world of songwriter music and the bright, sometimes garish world of mainstream pop - for Kat Frankie they are not mutually exclusive. "Bad Behaviour" is the name of her latest album; you can find all the qualities of her music on it. And yet, at the same time, you notice how the Australian has once again gone one step further: she has never before mirrored the "dark" and the "light" sides of her music so fearlessly and virtuously; there have never been so many surprises to be heard from her.
The 23-year-old multi-instrumentalist CATT will be on stage as support. The young singer-songwriter impresses with colorful piano playing and a voice that moves through the sounds with ease.
