Sebastian "Kebu" Teir, an artist from Espoo, Finland, creates novel melodic instrumental music by using only analog synthesizers. When asked why he relies only on analog synths, he replies "First of all - the sound. Each synthesizer has its own wonderful personal character, which is very rare to find in new equipment. They also have a life of their own. So it sounds a little bit different every time I perform. That said, a lot of the synthesizers I use are pretty limited in what they can do, which in turn limits me as well. Especially for live concerts, I have to plan exactly which synthesizer plays which part because I don't use backing tracks or samples. These limitations are my palette and canvas to work with and it motivates me to push the boundaries of what I can do. When you make music on a computer, you have unlimited possibilities. That's too much agony of choice for my taste - it actually overwhelms me and makes me feel less creative. The bottom line is that I just really like working with hardware. These synthesizers feel like real instruments. You don't get that kind of interaction playing a synth that just exists on a computer."
