As Jack Bauer he became world famous during the noughties in the TV series "24", but Hollywood star Kiefer Sutherland is not only in his element in the movies, but also on stage. Now the multiple Emmy and Golden Globes-winning Canadian actor, director and producer is coming to Germany for the very first time as a singer and guitarist with his own band.
The 50-year-old has confirmed five concerts to present his latest album "Down In A Hole" (Warner Music Nashville) live.
Few people know that Sutherland has other talents and interests lying dormant, but he approaches those, too, with the same commitment as he does his acting. Starting in 1992, he hustles cattle with John English for over ten years and joins him as a professional rodeo rider on the U.S. national USTRC team. With the team he wins several rodeos in Phoenix, Indio or Los Angeles.
2002 he founds the small but fine record label Ironworks together with his best friend Jude Cole. The label's goal is to support homegrown musicians and give them a platform at a time when the music industry is in monumental upheaval. Some of the more well-known Ironworks artists include Rocco DeLuca and the Burden, HoneyHoney and Billy Boy On Poison. In 2009, Sutherland left the label to pursue new challenges. These came in the spring of 2015: when he played two self-written songs to his friend Cole, he was immediately hooked and convinced Sutherland not to give the tracks to other artists, but to make his own, complete album out of them. The result will be released in summer 2016, is called "Down In A Hole" and is, according to Sutherland, a kind of diary.
"All eleven songs are based on personal experiences. It's a beautiful thing and very satisfying to be able to look back on your life, the good times and the bad times, and express it all through music. Best of all, as much as I enjoyed writing and recording the songs, I'm looking forward to playing them in front of a live audience; it's something I never expected."
