Theatermaker Inka Meyer has a problem: For the next season, she has been asked to stage the Shakespeare play "The Taming of the Shrew". But is it even possible, 40 years after the first women burned their bras, to put a play with such medieval role models on stage? For Inka, the task quickly becomes one of taking stock: How are women who have children and work? Who don't have children and work? Who have children and don't work? Female or female? Equal or deferred? Power woman or overmother? And where are the men? Where were they 50 years ago - in the office? Three quarters of all fathers take only two months parental leave - parallel to their wife's parental leave. So who cooks the organic carrot and parsnip porridge? Father, mother or Alnatura? And who can help us with the questions? Germany's Next Role model Heidi Klum? Or Duchess Kate, who has thrown her studies to the wind in order to shine in designer dresses next to Prince William? The answers are startling, original and highly entertaining. At least with Inka Meyer.
This is about women. But different. That means no man-woman stuff. No dungaree feminist whining. No man-bashing. Free of role stereotypes. It's about work, family, retirement. Highly political - but very, very funny. For men too.
