As part of a series of events celebrating their 50th anniversary as a band, the King Crimson Tour 2019 will include special concerts across three continents, both festivals and headline concerts.
Since the band's return to the live business in 2014, whose sold-out shows wowed critics worldwide, including the two terrific shows at the Roman amphitheater in Pompeii, where Pink Floyd has performed, audiences and the band alike have reinvented themselves:
With their fiftieth anniversary upon us, it seems that the wider world has finally become enthralled with King Crimson. A process that began with Kanye West incorporating bits of "21st Century Schizoid Man" into his 2010 hit "Power" and is now capped by "Starless" being chosen for the soundtrack of the opening scenes of Nicholas Cage's 2018 film "Mandy."
The three hour shows are packed with material from twelve of their thirteen studio albums, including many of the songs from their seminal album "In The Court of the Crimson King", released in 1969, which was classified by Pete Townshend as an unrivalled masterpiece. The new 8-man line-up plays many older works that Crimson have never performed live, but also new arrangements of Crimson classics - free according to the motto "the music is new whenever it was written". There are also new instrumentals and songs, as well as compositions by the three drummers, Pat Mastelotto, Gavin Harrison and Jeremy Stacey, which are a regular highlight. A unique show where eight of the best musicians in the world simply make their music, without distraction or flourish.
