Bach and Ligeti: Kit Armstrong combined these two musical extremes in 2013 for his first solo album. A CD that made an impact - the young American-Taiwanese pianist was able to deliver a veritable, even self-confident calling card. His mentor Alfred Brendel considers him to be "the greatest musical talent I have encountered in my entire life", because Armstrong shows an "understanding of the great piano literature as a unity of feeling and understanding, freshness and refinement". The concert programme that Kit Armstrong will present with the Ensemble Resonanz at the Frankfurt Bach Concerts also revolves around Bach and Ligeti. This is not the first time that the pianist has conducted the Hamburg-based chamber orchestra, which has made an excellent name for itself for its exciting projects between early and new music.
