The Königstein Castle Festival involves the entire town with all age groups in the festivities. On Castle Festival Friday, the festival begins at 6:00 p.m. with an ecumenical service in the parish church of St. Marien. Afterwards the damsel of the castle and her entourage will go to Villa Borgnis. There, the reigning damsel Isabella I is bidden farewell and solemnly admitted to the circle of high damsels. Afterwards the enthronement of the new damsel, Helen I, is on the program. The castle as well as the club cellars open at 20.00 o'clock. Afterwards follows the first festive evening with music program and with a large firework at approx. 22.30 o'clock on the castle. Closing time is at 3.00 o'clock. The castle festival Saturday begins at 15.00 o'clock with the mayor's reception for the damsel of the castle with the key handing over of the mayor to the damsel of the castle Helen I.. Afterwards the damsel visits patients in the St.-Josef-Hospital with a small procession and brings them coffee and cake on the occasion of the castle festival. From 4 p.m. onwards, the castle association's twilight pint starts on the castle's large festival meadow, which then seamlessly transitions into the evening programme with a programme in the festival cellars and on the large festival meadow. Closing time is at 3.00 o'clock. On the castle festival Sunday there is at 13.30 o'clock the large procession by the whole city with motive cars and groups, which take up the topics of the current castle festival book. Participants of the procession are Königsteiner as well as external associations and groups. Sunday afternoon is dedicated to families with a large children's program at Königstein Castle starting at 3:30 pm. The numerous spectators of the parade and guests of the festival at Königstein Castle come from Königstein and the surrounding area. In the late afternoon, at 17.00 o'clock, the castle association gives the reception for its members in one of the festival cellars (the exact cellar will be announced). Afterwards the guests from near and far celebrate in the cellars and on the large festival meadow of the castle until the early hours of Monday morning. Closing time is at 2:00 am. During the castle festival, Königsteiner clubs operate their own cellars on the castle, in which they delight and entertain their friends and guests with live music or discos and on this occasion also generate important income for their club work. In addition, there are stand operators from Königstein and the surrounding area who also provide the guests with food and drinks. On the large festival meadow there is a stage and an extensive music program. Since Königstein is a "school town" with four secondary schools, the castle festival evenings also have a special significance for the younger generation. Thus, besides the pupils, who partly live outside, i.e. in the surroundings of Königstein, also many alumni of the schools meet at the Burgfest. Often one arranges itself already then to the celebration in the next year. Text source and further information: http://www.burgverein-koenigstein.de/index.php/burgfest/koenigsteiner-burgfest
