The district of Kranichstein, created in 1968 by the large-scale construction of housing estates, was initially considered a satellite town. It is named after the nearby hunting lodge, the former summer residence of the Darmstadt landgraves and grand dukes. Kranichstein is a well-mixed and multicultural district with a broadly diversified social structure, which has a language and cultural diversity like hardly any other part of Darmstadt. So is Kranichstein a social gesture of the past, a model district or a social hotspot? Or is this laboratory of the 20th century perhaps already on the way to a future that the majority society is not yet aware of?
In a research process lasting several months, director and author Volker Schmidt worked together with residents of Kranichstein to examine their life experiences. From the stories of the residents as well as from the history, a joint station theatre piece was developed, which moves between reality and fantastic exaggeration and portrays a district as a model of a possible future.
The tour starts in the bus. Meeting point is at the artist*s entrance of the Staatstheater Darmstadt in Hügelstraße (between parking garage and advance booking office). The tour ends at the bus stop Siemensstraße in Kranichstein. From there the tour continues on foot through Kranichstein with several stops. The tour can NOT be started in Kranichstein.

Not everyone can afford to go to the theater. Regardless of a bureaucratically proven need, there are situations in life when money is tight. Enable people who nevertheless want to participate in culture to visit the theatre and pay the promotional price. Instead of the normal price of 25 € you pay 38 € .
