Two varying concerts by Michael Sell with two world premieres are on this year's program. Michael Sell (1942) is a composer and creator of unique ways of making music. Born in Königstein (Taunus) as the child of musicians, he initially studied political science and natural sciences, but soon switched to music. As a trumpeter, he is a herald of free jazz, before shifting his focus to compositional works from 1978 onwards: the composer, a member of the Darmstadt Secession, is about to celebrate his 40th professional anniversary. This autumn, two compositions by Michael Sell surround the concerts: the concertante interpretation of "La Bourse" by G.P. Telemann from 1720 from the Liebfrauenberg in Frankfurt am Main left to the world, version for trumpet, piano and large orchestra op 12794 (premiere of this version) and the world premiere "Großer Attraktor, konzertante Szene III" for soprano, countertenor, baritone and large orchestra. "La Bourse" makes reference to Telemann's setting of the Stock Exchange crash 295 years ago. It is performed this time in a version for trumpet, piano and large orchestra. New elements can be experienced in "Großer Attraktor" concertante scene III, a new version of this work from 1996. In the new concert cycle for fall 2018, the contemporary modern composer will present world premieres from past years as well as musical portraits in which, in addition to the trumpet, the instruments viola, percussion, horn, flute, euphonium and piano will provide surprising listening experiences.
