In April Lauv already played two sold out shows in Germany. In the process, the shooting star completely wowed Generation Z. His hit "I like Me Better" had brought him into the charts and especially the clubs. The audience in Cologne and Berlin went along with him, as the rbb reported in its review, "there is exuberant clapping, finger snapping, singing along, crouching down and jumping up. Because it seems strange to the singer to drink a sip of water in front of 800 people, everyone takes a sip at the same time", and the fans had shining eyes. A short while ago Lauv released his latest single "Chasing Fire" - of which, by the way, there is an absolutely cool Robin Schulz remix - now the New York native by choice has confirmed that he will be back in September and will play two more concerts in Frankfurt and Hamburg. Lauv is Latvian and means lion. On the one hand it is the star sign of Ari Staprans Leff, on the other hand it fits quite well to this versatile, musician who is of Latvian descent himself. The name connects many things that the multi-instrumentalist is and brings together with his music. On his single "I Like Me Better" he combined snippets of traditional music from the Baltic States with electronic sounds and a deeply romantic melody to create one of the most formidable summer hits of the year. He learned to play piano and viola as a child, later adding guitar. During his high school years, he played in several bands and dabbled in jazz before turning to electronic music. This, in turn, led him to study Music Technology at New York University, a wide-ranging course of study that facilitated his intellectual approach to music. But it was an interview with Paul Simon that set him on the right path: "In it, Simon told me that songwriting for him was discovering his buried feelings. That's when it clicked for me. Since then, I don't overanalyze everything, I focus on just being honest." That's exactly why Lauv's stripped-down songs, somewhere between electric r'n'b and cool indie pop, are so sizzling and work just as well as piano versions as they do in remixes. The falsetto vocals over the cleverly arranged instruments and sounds, as well as the laid-back harmonies, immediately put you in a good mood, even if it's a song about an unhappy love affair.
