Thomas Schütte, 12 Portraits
Lecture by Prof. Dr. Raimund Stecker

Thomas Schütte (born 1954) is one of the most important contemporary sculptors. The range of his work includes figurative sculptures of the greatest physical sensual intensity to fantastic architectural models. He plays virtuously with numerous materials such as wood, stone, bronze, aluminium, steel, glass, ceramics and textiles.

Parallel to this, Thomas Schütte has created an extensive oeuvre of watercolours, drawings and etchings, in many cases thematically specific groups of works, often making references to his sculptural work. The group of works on display represents 12 portraits of family members and friends of Thomas Schütte, testifying to outstanding mastery in a wide range of printmaking techniques as well as to a touching closeness, affection, and intimacy between the persons depicted and the artist.

Admission free. We ask for registration by e-mail (kunstfenster@holzhausenschloesschen.de), by fax (069 / 59 88 05) or by mail (Justinianstraße 5, 60322 Frankfurt).
