EXTENDED UNTIL 08.01.2017 Discover history through play - that's possible until 30 October at the Archaeological Museum. Here, a lovingly designed special exhibition takes visitors young and old on a journey through different historical eras. Valuable original finds from the museum's collection are on display. That in itself is exciting and worth seeing. But what makes this exhibit so special is that these original finds are juxtaposed with replicas made from LEGO bricks. The display cases painstakingly created by the certified LEGO model builders of "Design in Stein" are literally overflowing with small, adorable details. You can spend many minutes in front of each showcase and still discover something new. Of course, this also increases the desire to delve deeper into the historical background, which is made possible by the original finds. Whether it's a mammoth in the clutches of Stone Age hunters, a visit to a Roman-era bathhouse, a medieval marketplace, or Vikings setting sail, this exhibition really brings history to life in a very colorful and playful way. But the children, whom this exhibition is primarily aimed at, are not only taught here how much fun history and archaeology can be. Their own creativity is also challenged. To this end, there are two play stations, one for smaller children with DUPLO bricks, the other for slightly older children with LEGO bricks. Here, children can recreate the past themselves or simply let their imagination run wild. Because the beauty of LEGO, as a pupil from the Fridtjof Nansen School in Nied rightly said during the press tour, is that you can build just about anything with the bricks. From ancient castles to futuristic spaceships, from historic tombs to modern cities - LEGO sets (almost) no limits to the imagination. When the creative use of LEGO meets the imparting of knowledge, it's simply fun and absolutely recommendable, not only for children! Admission is free for children under 6 (does not apply to booked groups) Opening hours: Tue - Sun 10am - 6pm, Wed 10am - 8pm, Mon closed Further information about the event: http://www.archaeologisches-museum.frankfurt.de
