Lene Lovich, the "Queen of Quirk" has had many an influence on the pop and alternative scene. She has influenced the acts of Nina Hagen, Bo George, Madonna and Dresden Dolls and has continued to wow her fans over the years. To call Lene Lovich one of the truly greats of the deviant music biz is certainly no understatement. After a busy childhood in the US and UK, she once made it all the way to Spain to meet Salvador Dalí.

She really came to prominence in this country in the 1980s as a result of her collaborations with Nina Hagen. Later she released several records with guitarist and songwriter Les Chappell. From the very beginning, the performative element of her output was probably the most style-defining: with a bloodcurdling voice, weird outfits and sometimes quite unambiguous and ambiguous actions, Lovich adapted her personal form of an expressive-introverted punk attitude for theatre and performance art. Lene's commitment to animal rights is also well known. Together with Nina Hagen, she wrote and sang the song Don't Kill the Animals against animal testing in 1986, which was released as a single. The song was also released in 1987 with tracks by The Smiths, U2 and others on a benefit sampler to benefit PETA.
