30 Years of the LiBeratur Prize: Re-measuring World Literature from a Female Perspective
2018 marks the 30th year of the LiBeratur Prize - which exclusively honors women writers from Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Arab world. Year presented. The prize has long since acquired international appeal - for Litprom a joyous occasion to celebrate, but also to reflect on fundamental issues: is such a prize actually still opportune? Or do we even need - as the Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie demands - "more feminism"? The Litprom Literature Days 2018 therefore ask both award-winning and nominated female prize-winners: What issues are driving them? What does female writing mean to them - taking into account all regional, linguistic, generational diversity and across the boundaries of 'North' and 'South', 'race' and 'class'? The Literature Days will feature panel discussions, readings, workshop discussions and film screenings. All events will be interpreted.
