Affordable housing determines discussions far beyond Germany - for the first time, an architecture prize therefore addresses this topic. More than 100 architects from Germany and abroad accepted the invitation and submitted a total of over 130 completed projects, which are now being presented in an exhibition. They show the diversity, creativity and quality of current housing construction for all - in Germany as well as in the Netherlands, France and Great Britain; in Austria, Switzerland, Slovenia, Italy, Spain and Turkey as well as in Norway, Finland and Poland.
The Planning Department of the City of Frankfurt am Main, together with the German Architecture Museum (DAM) and ABG Frankfurt Holding, is offering the architecture prize "Living for All". Partners of the award are the Bundesstiftung Baukultur (Federal Foundation for Building Culture), the Deutscher Städtetag (German Association of Cities) and the Architekten- und Stadtplanerkammer Hessen (Chamber of Architects and Town Planners of Hesse). The prize is supported by BPD Immobilienentwicklung GmbH.
In order to use the impulses from all over Europe for the city of Frankfurt, an expert jury will award ten outstanding buildings from the project submissions. The prize winners will qualify for the concept procedure for the development of Hilgenfeld in Frankfurt's northwest, which will begin in May 2018. Of these, the jury will select up to three works for realization - construction is scheduled to begin in late 2019 / early 2020.
A catalogue featuring the projects submitted in the Call for Projects and the designs for Frankfurt's Hilgenfeld will be published in spring 2019 in conjunction with another exhibition at DAM.
During the summer holidays (23.6. - 5.8.2018), the annual Lego construction site will take place in parallel in the exhibition "Living for all".
