For more than three decades, Canadian artist Loreena McKennitt has explored the diverse aspects of Celtic music. Seemingly effortlessly, she combines instrumental as well as vocal perfection and emotion to create a sonic costume that enchants the listener. On her Lost Souls tour, the passionate globetrotter will be accompanied by a five-piece band of selected soloists. The focus will be on many songs from her extensive canon as well as her new Lost Souls album.
Her performances will be composed of music and narration inspired by Loreena McKennitt's tracing of Celtic history. For example, songs are combined with mystical Irish poems by Yeats and Keats, as well as texts by classic writers such as Shakespeare and Tennyson.
Her ensemble includes two of her longtime companions, guitarist Brian Hughes and cellist Caroline Lavelle, as well as Hugh Marsh on violin, Dudley Philips on double bass and Robert Brian on drums.
Intimacy interwoven with personal stories characterize Loreena McKennitt's concerts. Trademarks remain her crystal clear soprano voice and her versatility as an instrumentalist on harp, piano and bandoneon.
