A play about the courage to trust your own eyes for everyone from 6 years
M O N S T R A show an experiment that would not have existed without their audience: at the beginning there were presents that M O N S T R A got from children to make a theatre scene out of. They showed this first scene to children and asked them: What did you see? Based on their descriptions and fantasies, a play was invented. So many children contributed ideas for costumes and stage design, drew pictures and fantasized about light and music. Slowly but surely, a play emerged that M O N S T R A could never have dreamed up on their own.
Beyond rightly perceived and wrongly understood, "Is it true?" is about the pleasurable handling of different perspectives and what happens when they become reality. A declaration of love to watching theatre, to inventing, interpreting and puzzling together.
M O N S T R A were awarded the "Karfunkel", the Frankfurt Children's and Youth Theatre Prize of the City of Frankfurt in 2020.
