More than a thousand runners will once again make the Mainova Frankfurt Marathon one of the major highlights in Frankfurt's sports calendar. It is quite impressive when the participants start moving at the exhibition center, and then - along many motivating shouting spectators - complete the course. Who creates that, which is rewarded with a very special finish over the red carpet into the festival hall, where each individual runner and each runner is greeted with thunderous applause.

The varied route; the flat profile; the dense atmosphere by the in past years about 400.000 spectators on the roadside, the great value for money for the starters and the perfect organization make the Frankfurt Marathon so popular with amateur runners as well as professionals, of course.

Also this year there are again numerous track festivals, the Marathonmall (27 - 29.10. in Hall 1 of Messe Frankfurt) or the Brezellauf powered by interair, which takes place on 28.10. at 10 a.m.

On Sunday, 29.10., the 1st wave of marathon runners will start at 10 a.m., the second wave will follow at 10:10 a.m.. Please note that during the night from Saturday to Sunday the time will be set back by 1 hour. The first runners are expected to cross the finish line at the Festhalle shortly after 12 noon. The finish line is at 5 pm.

Distance festivities

Along the route, there will be up to 90 action points again this year, where the mood will be really set. The hotspot will be of course again the Hauptwache, at which hr1 will provide for mood. But there will also be larger action points at Opernplatz or at Platz der Republik. But also the small route festivals in Gallus, in Goldstein, in Niederrad, in Griesheim, in Sachsenhausen and at many other points, will ensure that the best "Anfeuer" mood will prevail with the spectators as well as with the runners.

Affects on local traffic

.The marathon route, which runs on both sides of the Main River between downtown Frankfurt and Höchst, touches the city's bus and streetcar network at many points, so from about 6.30 h to 18.30 h, numerous streetcar and bus lines are affected by interruptions or detour.

U-Bahns use

.

Even in Frankfurt's dense public transport network, subways offer a good alternative to get to your destination well. On the day of the event, the subway lines U1 to U4 and U6 to U8 will be reinforced, so that more passengers space is available.
