Marathonmann are one of the few bands that not only meet expectations, but always exceed them. Thus, their first EP "Die Stadt gehört den Besten" became a hit within the scene in 2012, even before the band was a year old, and even after numerous national and international support shows and appearances at major festivals, the Munich-based band never made themselves comfortable in their comfort zone. On the contrary, with their three albums and two EPs to date, they have always retained the freedom to venture into new musical realms without shaking the foundations of their typical sound. It's a tightrope act that Marathonmann have now mastered once again in the making of their fourth studio album, "Die Angst sitzt neben dir". While other bands often fall into a kind of shock paralysis with the onset of success, which makes it difficult for them to develop artistically further, the southern German post-hardcore combo really strives for change. In the process of creating their new record, the musicians have once again ventured into uncharted waters. This time, they experimented with piano and synth sounds, among others, which perfectly complement the typical Marathonmann sound and raise it to a new level. "We just wanted to see what we could do and where the journey would take us," explains singer Michi. "Vocally, I also felt like trying myself out and just being bold." Guitarist Leo probably thought the same thing, as he was involved in the band's songwriting for the first time and contributed several songs to the new album. "The feeling that we have to prove something to someone has disappeared and that feels insanely good," Michi sums up.
