In his home country Italy Marco Mengoni has been one of the superstars of the pop scene for years and this despite the fact that his songs are so multi-layered, surprising and profound, which is not often heard in the pop business. Since winning the third season of The X-Factor, success has followed success. Of the four studio albums, three EPs and two live records to date, almost all of them immediately rose to the top of the Italian charts and were awarded 15 platinum records. In just under a decade, he has had 19 singles enter the top 20 of the Italian charts, with four rising to the top. After an extended sabbatical, which Mengoni used to travel extensively around the world, his next number one album, "Atlantico," was released last November, reflecting his experiences in a stylistically diverse manner. Due to the overwhelming enthusiasm generated by his European concerts last April, Marco Mengoni will return to German-speaking countries once again between December 8 and 13 for two German shows in Frankfurt and Cologne as well as a concert in Zurich.

Marco Mengoni, born in 1988 in Ronciglione, central Italy, pursued the goal of becoming a professional musician at the age of 14. At that time, he began vocal lessons and was part of a five-piece vocal group for an extended period of time. After school, he moved to Rome, began studying linguistics and earned his money as a bar singer and wedding singer. His career then took off when he participated in the third season of the Italian edition of The X Factor in 2009: He won the show, immediately his first single "Dove si vola" climbed to the top of the Italian charts.

Since then, his successes have been strung together like pearls on a necklace. In 2010, he placed third at the Sanremo Festival and reached the top of the Italian charts twice in one year with the album double hit "Re matto" as well as "Re matto Live". This buzz subsequently reverberated internationally, evidenced by winning the MTV Europe Award for 'Best European Act' - the first Italian artist to do so in the history of the award. An honour he was able to repeat in 2015. A very successful year anyway, in which he not only won the Sanremo Festival again, but was subsequently selected to represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest, where he ultimately finished a respectable seventh in Malmö.

The years 2015/2016 proved to be Mengoni's most eventful to date. Over the course of 18 months, he released three separate but related albums, the third of which was a live album. All of them climbed back to the top of the charts and some of them are still in the Top 100 today. In parallel, Mengoni established his own music festival, a melting pot of national and international singers as well as songwriters, representing the whole world of pop singing.

NFollowing these exciting years, Marco Mengoni took his first extended time off and traveled around the world, always carrying a guitar and a notebook to capture countless moments of this journey in thoughts and chords. From this multitude of sketches finally emerged the fantastic songs of his new album "Atlantico", which as a concept album now tells the fictional coming-of-age story of his younger alter ego by means of musical journeys through genres and continents. As a result, "Atlantico" has become by far the most multi-layered album of his career to date - something he will once again prove live during his three concerts in Frankfurt, Cologne and Zurich in December.
