Frankfurt's poster child for classic Chicago blues and R&B meets one of Germany's best blues and boogie pianists. Few German blues musicians enjoy as high an international reputation as pianist Christian Rannenberg, who hails from Osnabrück and now lives in Berlin.
Few others - of any soft nationality - come close to his finesse when it comes to incorporating a piano into the context of a blues band. In 1982 he was drawn to Chicago.
Within a short time he was playing in bands led by John Littlejohn, Lefty Dizz, Sam Lay and Jimmy Rogers. It was also in Chicago that he met tenor saxophonist Gary Wiggins, with whom he formed the International Blues Duo.
