After his first solo program "Fascination Allgäu", cabaret artist Maxi Schafroth seamlessly continues his bizarre journey of observation. "Faszination Bayern" is the second milestone of his long-planned cabaret trilogy. According to Schafroth, he had the idea at the age of seven while touching the electric pasture fence in Gumpratsried near Eggisried. "That was mind-expanding!" says Schafroth, who also enjoyed a solid cabaret education as part of his IHK apprenticeship as a bank clerk.
In "Fascination Bavaria" the journey goes out of the structurally weak Allgäu region, over the Lech, to the lauded university city of Munich. There Maxi Schafroth encounters Starnberg dentist's kids in SUVs, Munich educated citizens in mustard yellow corduroy pants and hip scene couples with wooden-look glasses.
From the BayWa Ottobeuren to the Manufactum rubber boot shelf at Munich's Marienhof, Maxi Schafroth brings us closer to the versatility of the largest state in terms of area and, as a nationwide cultural coach, advocates tolerance and togetherness. With the help of well-founded historical evidence, he sensitizes us to Bavarian history and enlightens us about the first Bavarian settler and forefather "Eusebius the Invertebrate" from the 9th century and his 40-strong farming community. Century and its 40-headed peasant army, the "Frusthaufen", which had advanced in the so-called "Igelformation" foot as far as Damascus.
On its converted hereditary farm Maxi Schafroth creates remedy for the problems of burnt out high achievers. The resocialization center for dropout bankers and the glacier hut seminar "Let go!" for overstrained "Helicoptering Parents" earned him the nomination as "Entrepreneur of the Year" of his home community Stephansried and catapulted him overnight in Wikipedia to second place of the most prominent people of the 78 souls village, right after miracle healer Sebastian Kneipp.
Maximilian Schafroth spared no effort and no risk in developing his new program. He went into quite dicey situations, including several years of corporate espionage at a major bank, a three-day internship in a Schwabing KiTa and participation in the seminar breathing therapy for managers.
From this biographical crossover Maxi Schafroth makes stunning cabaret, always underpinned with the jarring charm of his Allgäu accent.
He is again accompanied in "Faszination Bayern" by heart and mind and above all by his congenial guitarist and yard neighbour Markus Schalk. Depending on time availability, the children's choir of the Junge Union Miesbach will join the event.
