On the second weekend of July, the Upper Hessian town of Büdingen traditionally invites you to travel back in time to the Middle Ages.
In the moats in front of the town wall, a medieval camp welcomes the curious time travellers before they make their way through the defiant fortifications into the heart of the old town.
In the Old Town, all manner of dragon folk, foul bear skinners and valiant knightsfolk go about their sometimes noble, sometimes miserable activities.
In this unique setting, more than 60 craftsmen demonstrate the arts of times past. Minstrels, jugglers, fire-eaters and dance groups provide plenty of amusement. More than 150 merchants offer goods from all over the world. The medieval livestock market with goats, cows, birds, horses and camels will make not only children's eyes shine.
Theater performances, puppet shows, archery and historical scenes will add to the entertainment.
For little knights and damsels there will be an extensive program with all kinds of amusements.
A tempting scent will again lie over the city on all days, when many merchants, but also Büdinger restaurants, offer medieval food and drink.
