Georgy Tchaidze was born in St. Petersburg in 1988, Georgy Tchaidze took his piano exams at the Balakirev Conservatory in Nizhny-Novgorod in 2005, then moved to the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow and has been studying in Klaus Hellwig's class at the Berlin University of the Arts since 2010. He has taken master classes with eminent pianists such as Boris Berman and Stephen Kovacevich as well as with the Japanese Bach specialist Masaaki Suzuki. Mainzer Virtuosi The young string ensemble was founded in 2007 at the Hochschule für Musik Mainz and is still composed mainly of current and former students of this institute, supplemented by some players who have joined from outside. Internationality in the very best sense has characterized this ensemble from the very beginning. Although most of the participants have been familiar with German and European culture for a long time, and some come from bi-national families, the quasi-global spread of ethnicities within the ensemble leads to fruitful cultural encounters. The artistic direction is in the hands of Prof. Anne Shih, who herself embodies this principle. The ensemble's repertoire ranges from the early Baroque to the present. Some works have been written especially for the ensemble and premiered by it at prominent venues. In addition to performances in the Rhine-Main region, the "Mainzer Virtuosi" are also regularly active internationally. They are Ensemble in Residence at the Casalmaggiore International Festival and at Norfolk Concerts. This year they have been invited to tour China. Collaboration with renowned international artists is as much a part of the ensemble's profile as playing without a conductor. The members' commitment to young talent in the form of coaching for even younger players is also unusual. In the past, for example, they have worked with 11 schools in Norfolk, England. For about two years they have been coaching the "Young Mozart Players" and meet with them twice a year for highly acclaimed concerts at the Kurhaus Wiesbaden.
